WHAT ARE SNOW CHRISTMAS TREES?
Snow Christmas trees are artificial Christmas trees that have been treated to imitate the look of freshly fallen snow. Also called frosted or flocked, these trees are sprayed with faux snow and can either be lightly or heavily treated depending on the desired look.
WHAT’S THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN FLOCKED AND FROSTED CHRISTMAS TREES?
The difference between a frosted and flocked Christmas tree is mainly in the amount of artificial snow it has. Flocked trees tend to look heavily covered, with the boughs appearing more weighed down. Frosted Christmas trees, on the other hand, are lightly flocked with a faux dusting of snow.
HOW TO SET UP A SNOW CHRISTMAS TREE
Before you start, we recommend asking friends and family to help as it could take around two hours to set up and shape a tree for the first time. Frosted Christmas trees may also shed some of its flocking when you first take it out of the box, so keep a broom or vacuum cleaner handy.

STEP-BY-STEP GUIDE
- Step 1 | Assemble Tree Stand
Set up the base. Balsam Hill’s included tree base folds out into an X-shape comprised of four legs. Turn the eyebolt into the stand just enough to ensure the legs cannot fold back together.
- Step 2 | Secure the Tree
Insert the bottom section of the tree into the base then tighten the eyebolt completely. The tree base should be straight up and down and should not wobble.
- Step 3 | Shape the Branches
Open up the hinged branches and start to shape and fluff the branches. Insert the middle section(s) of the tree and open up the branches.
- Step 4 | Connect the Lights
Connect the light plugs for non-Easy Plug® trees, and make sure all of the lights are lit. Continue to fluff each section.
- Step 5 | Attach the Top Section
After shaping the treetop on the ground, place it on the tree. Connect the light plugs for non-Easy Plug trees, and make sure all of the lights are lit.
- Step 6 | Inspect the Tree
Step back from time to time to make sure the lights are evenly distributed and that the tree branches are fluffed to your liking.

HOW TO DECORATE A SNOW CHRISTMAS TREE

Create an enchanted forest with woodland accents such as birds, squirrels, and owls. Layer them with acorn and pinecone BAUBLES along with other decorations in various shapes and sizes. HOW TO STORE A SNOW CHRISTMAS TREE
DISASSEMBLY
- Step 1 | Detach the Lights
- For non-Easy Plug™ trees, detach the light connections between the sections. If your tree is not pre-lit, unstring the lights and store them separately.
- Step 2 | Compress the Branches
- Using both hands, gently compress the foliage on each branch before detaching the section. Then, flip the tree section over and squeeze the branches together.
- Step 3 | Secure with a Ribbon
- For easier handling, tie a ribbon or cord around the section to secure the branches.
STORAGE
- Step 1 | Prepare the Storage Bag(s)
- Unzip and open the storage bags that came with your tree.
Step 2 | Store the Sections
- Position the sections in the bag(s) as if they were a pair of shoes in a box, with the pole in the centre. For larger trees, place the odd-numbered sections in one bag, and the even-numbered in the other.
Step 3 | Seal the Bag
- Zip up the bag to keep out dust and insects.

HOW LONG DO ARTIFICIAL FLOCKED CHRISTMAS TREES LAST?
With proper care and storage, artificial flocked Christmas trees last a long time. Keep in mind, however, that it’s normal for frosted trees to shed some of its flocking over time. WHAT ARE THE HAZARDS OF FLOCKING YOUR OWN TREE?
Flocking refers to the process of applying artificial snow to your Christmas tree. While most flocking materials are non-toxic, there are some snow spray that may contain potentially hazardous chemicals. We also don’t recommend flocking your own tree as doing so may accidentally damage it and void your warranty.
